Earth Leakage Sensor
Detects dangerous leakage currents to protect people, equipment, and facilities.
What Does an Earth Leakage Sensor Measure?
An earth leakage sensor measures unintended current flowing from live conductors to earth. In industrial systems, leakage currents indicate insulation degradation, moisture ingress, wiring faults, or equipment failure that can lead to electric shock or fire hazards.
Signal Output
- Analog: 4–20 mA (leakage current magnitude)
- Digital relay output (trip / alarm)
- Digital communication: RS485 / Modbus
- Derived values: Leakage current trend (mA)
What Does the Signal Mean?
| Leakage Behaviour | Industrial Meaning |
|---|---|
| Zero or minimal leakage | Healthy insulation and safe operation |
| Gradual leakage increase | Insulation aging, moisture ingress |
| Sudden leakage spike | Insulation failure or earth fault |
| Intermittent leakage | Loose wiring or environmental exposure |
